Foxgloves, you want foxgloves? We got them! Carrying on with the "it's been a good year for primroses/bluebells/may blossom" theme, we can now add "it's been a good year for foxgloves". As these few photographs show, there are a lot of them around - on the hedgerows, in the fields and in the woods. The ones below were taken on the edge of the Duchy Woodlands overlooking the village. They are definitely more profuse than we've seen in previous years, perhaps due to the weather when it mattered for flower production but, in this area, perhaps due to the larch clearance and the associated seed dispersal when the ground was disturbed. Whatever the cause, the effect is both colourful and stunning.
